Religious Education Classes Grades 1-8

Classes begin on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 9:10am and will be located at the Galligan School (directly across from the Church). Classes will conclude at 10:20am so your family can conveniently walk across the street to attend 10:30am Mass.

Sacrament Preparation for 1st Communion & 1st Penance

Saint Andrew the Apostle offers a two-year sacramental instruction program for children preparing for the Sacraments of First Penance and reception of the Holy Eucharist. Before receiving these sacraments, students must complete year one and be satisfactorily progressing in year two.  All of our children are required to participate in this two-year sacramental program, even if they attend one of our local Catholic schools.   All classes take place on Sunday mornings from 9:10am until 10:20am at the Galligan School, directly across the street from our church, allowing your family time to attend either the 8:00am or 10:30am Masses.

If your child was not baptized at Saint Andrew the Apostle, a copy of their baptismal certificate is required when you register.

If your child has not been baptized, we would be happy to work with you and your child in preparation to receive the Sacrament of Baptism and begin their formal education in our faith.

Confirmation Preparation

Our students begin their preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in their freshman year of high school, receiving the sacrament in their sophomore year.  It is further expected that unless your child has attended one of our Diocesan Catholic Schools, they have been actively participating in a Faith Formation Program for the 8 years prior to their entry into our Confirmation Program.  Please note that Canon Law provides some very specific guidelines for selecting a Sponsor for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Since this is always a source of concern and tension, it is very important that you review these requirements with  Fr. Murphy before asking anyone to serve in this very special spiritual role.

Further information about our Confirmation program can be found by calling the parish office at (508) 824-5577.

The parish is the center of faith formation for Catholics. Every person in your pews, every Catholic in your parish community…child or adult…is on their own journey toward Christ and a life of discipleship.
