Our Perpetual Novena in honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal began in the fall of 1943 and continues every Monday evening. On November 27, 1830, Our Lady appeared to Sister (now Saint) Catherine Laboure, a sister of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, at the Motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity in Paris, France. Our Lady instructed Sister Catherine to have a medal struck in the exact same image that she saw before her, and entitle it “Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.” In 1832, 20,000 medals were made and distributed throughout Europe. People were encouraged to wear the medal and pray the “Memorare.” As a result of many reported miracles, the medal took on a new name, the Miraculous Medal. Today, the Miraculous Medal Novena is prayed every Monday evening in parishes throughout the world. Please join us as we pray the beautiful prayers of this Novena in honor Our Lady every Monday evening at 7:00 PM.
Our parish is home to a first class relic of Saint Catherine Laboure, a sister of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul and a Marian visionary who relayed the request from the Blessed Virgin Mary to create the Miraculous Medal worn by millions of Christians throughout the world.
"Our communal worship at Mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharistic adoration in order that our love may complete.” Saint Pope John Paul II
Many people believe the origin of the idea for a holy hour can be traced back to Jesus’ time in the Garden of Gethsemane when he asked three of his beloved apostles to stand watch while he went to pray. They fell asleep and when Jesus returned from prayer, he asked Peter with a certain sadness in his heart - “So you could you not watch one hour with me?” Mt 26:40
Might Jesus be asking us the very same question this day - can we not spare one hour a week to stand watch with our Lord?
Please join us each Wednesday evening in this great exercise of love and spend a little time just to rest and be with our Lord.
As Catholics, we are a Eucharistic people believing in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Monthly "First Friday" Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on the first Friday of every month, following the 8:00 AM Mass and continuing until 6:00 PM. Eucharistic Adoration is “a priceless treasure” and a “wellspring of grace", increasing the fruits of our communion with Christ and each other. First Friday Adoration provides a unique opportunity to express our gratitude and love for the gift of Christ and the great sacrifice He made on our behalf. Please make time to sit with the Lord. He cannot be left alone!
There is a Healing Mass on the 2nd Thursday of the month. The Holy Rosary begins at 6:00pm and will include the Sacrament of Confession. Holy Mass will begin at 6:30pm. It will conclude with healing prayers and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. All are welcome.
